First came the miners, many from the Wittenoom blue asbestos mine in Western Australia's Pilbara, which closed in 1967. Next were the people who worked directly with asbestos, in factories, unloading it at the docks, or as builders, plumbers, electricians and carpenters. Now, the third or ''third person'' wave is emerging and includes "wave two" children and home renovators.
